The Red Center Ayers Rock or Uluru is a universal symbol of the red heart of the country. 210 miles southwest of Alice Springs is the largest monolith in the world. It is two miles long, 1 1/2 miles wide and 1,143 feet high. The rock - remains sacred to the Aboriginal people. Aboriginal paintings and remains of ancient rites and ceremonies are in evidence in the rock’s folds and caverns. Also in the same national park are the Olgas.
